Brief Church Mission Statement: Please limit your response to no more than 1500 characters including spaces and punctuation.

"We will glorify God together in worship, drawing others to believe in Christ as Lord and Savior, and building one another up for service to others"

The brief Mission Statement above appears on our bulletin and church brochure.

We glorify God in our Sunday Worship, our fellowship time together, our ministry to the needy through food baskets distributed twice a year, serving meals at the Rescue Mission and other ministry projects. We make our facilities, including the children’s playground, available to the community. Our church chimes ring out over the area and are enthusiastically received by the community.

We send letters to newcomers in the community to acquaint them with our church and invite their attendance. We encourage our members to invite their friends and neighbors to attend services and fellowship functions. We have a visitation program to welcome visitors. There is a friendly church family atmosphere which makes people feel at home.

We have an Elder Care program. Each Elder is responsible for staying in contact with the members on their list and notifying the pastor if they need his or her special attention.

Our members are supportive of each other as we carry out our various responsibilities in the church programs, offering encouragement, cooperation and gratitude for the work accomplished.

Narrative Questions: For each narrative question, please limit your responses to no more than 1500 characters including spaces and punctuation.

Please write a brief description of your church/organization programs or accomplishments.

The congregation was established in 1798. The sanctuary dates to 1877. It is a frame structure of simple beauty. A later addition of the education wing includes a fellowship hall which accommodates 100; a newly renovated kitchen, nursery, classrooms and libraries.

The manse has been converted to an annex containing offices for the pastor and secretary. The living room has become the church parlor, used for small group meetings and Sunday school.

The Sunday worship service places strong emphasis on preaching and music. Average attendance at Sunday worship is 90. Communication with the membership is enhanced by the "Patter" (the monthly newsletter) and an annual directory.

We have a wonderful group of children. A children’s sermon, led by an adult member of the congregation, is a regular part of worship. Children then exit to attend children’s church. The church also has a Sunday afternoon Kids Club. The church membership and friends recently installed a new playground for the children of our church and community.

We have an excellent volunteer choir. We are concentrating on enhancing our Sunday school program. Vacation Bible School has been quite successful. The Men’s and Women’s groups meet regularly and are well attended. Wednesday night fellowship dinners and Sunday coffee fellowship are enjoyed by all.

Our many service projects include partial support of two missionaries.

Please refer to our web site at www.concordpresbyterian.org for further information.

Describe what gifts, skills and experiences your congregation possesses to fulfill its mission.

The following occupational categories are represented: administration, agriculture, clerical, clergy, construction, educators, engineers, health care professionals, accounting professionals, machine operators, management, military, laborers, precision crafts, sales-marketing, technical support, transportation, musicians, attorneys, singers, cooks, professors, homemakers and entrepreneurs.

Different spiritual gifts such as teaching, serving, and leadership are expressed through a variety of congregational programs, committees, and ministries. The congregation utilizes these gifts in various ways as evidenced by the diverse programs and activities offered to the members and the community.

What are the key theological issues of our church and society that are reflected in the ministry of your congregation/organization?

We believe in a sovereign, triune God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit). We believe that God has put all things under the Lordship of Jesus Christ and made Him the Head of the Church which is his body. We are called to tell the good news of salvation, through faith in Jesus Christ, who is fully divine and fully human; was crucified, resurrected and ascended into Heaven where He sits on the right hand of God the Father. He will return to receive believers into His presence. Salvation is through no one else. We believe we stand before God as righteous because of His forgiveness of our sins through Jesus Christ crucified.

We believe the scripture, both Old and New Testaments, is the authoritative, infallible Word of God. The Bible was given to us by inspiration of God the Holy Spirit to teach us what is the truth and convict us of what is wrong in our lives, giving us, through Grace, the ability to live Godly lives.

We endorse and sustain our commitment to the Resolution as a "Confessing Church".
